Crossroads of Continents


Date completed: 1990


There are ten figures, (approximately 3.5" X 1.75") with ten oval medallions connecting them.


Comment: This belt was inspired by the exhibit Crossroads of the Continents, Cultures of Siberia and Alaska. There are five Siberian and five Alaskan cultures represented on the "Crossroads Belt."

Women II, Cultural Diversity


Date completed: 1996


There are ten figures (approx. 3.5" X 1.5") with moon faces and babies in between .


Comment: After several group excursions, one to Hawaii with the NMAI project and the second to New Zealand for the indigenous group symposium I wanted to combine a belt featuring celebrating women of various tribal backgrounds interlinked together.

Yup'ik Dancers


Date completed: 1997


There are ten figures (approx. 3.75" X 1.75") with ten Yup'ik masks linking the figures together.


Comments: This belt was inspired by the exhibit The Living Tradition of Yup'ik Masks-Agayuliyararput, Our Way of Making Prayer. The exhibit highlighted Yup'ik masks, garments and dance regalia. This is the last belt we created.
